Goal Setting

WHAT IS A GOAL?

A Goal is a Dream taken Seriously

Many people strive for goals that are way off in the future. They are unhappy day to day because they cannot satisfy their long term goals. The disappointment in not reaching these goals often causes negativity. This negativity shows up in their career, their relationships, their life.

Goals or dreams may be physical, financial, career, spiritual, mental, social or relationship or family orientated. Setting and reaching your goals, attaining your dream, is a skill. There is a formula but you have to be '"serious" about it. It may not be easy, but make it firm, exciting and a challenge. Ask yourself "Is it my goal, my dream? Am I doing this to satisfy someone else's dream or expectation? Is it fair to all? Can I physically and emotionally commit myself to achieve my dream?"

One of the goals of this program is to demonstrate a set of strategies, survival strategies, to deal with most situations and possible complications that may arise. With the ever quickening rate of change and escalating quality and volume of the competition, these sales people and businesses which are properly prepared will be handsomely rewarded. Those that are not committed or are under prepared will rapidly exit the Real Estate profession.

Why not set yourself realistic, short term goals that link in with your long term goals and reward yourself as you succeed.

Your long term goals will come around a lot quicker and you will be happier and more motivated day to day.

To quote the late John Lennon : "Life is what passes you by when you are busy making other plans".

Don't waste your life waiting for long term plans to come to fruition. Ask yourself "what am I going to do with the rest of my life?"

Concentrate on the process and the result will take care of itself of goal setting.

Developing a Plan and Strategy

So many Real Estate people invest innumerable hours, effort, capital and resources on the wrong strategies. Strategy is everything. History abounds with the "underdog" emerging successful because of a superior commitment and the correct plan and strategy.

A plan with the correct strategy is your compass. Where you are headed is more important than how fast you are going.

As Stephen Covey said: - "Many people spend a lifetime climbing a wall and upon reaching the top, find they have climbed the wrong wall!"

Once you have focused on your goals, the plan can be written, activated, monitored and evaluated and amended if required.

A business plan is a blueprint of what you hope to achieve in business and how you intend to go about achieving it. It needs to be sufficiently detailed to provide a picture of what you are doing, yet flexible enough to be updated as business changes.
