Do consumers actively seek you out to sell or lease their property? Can you be classified as ‘a speciality good’? "A ‘speciality goods’ purchaser is well aware of what they want and are willing to make a special effort to purchase that item or service."

It is a rare workplace, where there is absolutely no sign of any tension, before it erupts. The challenge to an employer is to make sure that the workplace is properly managed to diffuse the slightest sign of tension, before it escalates into a physical showdown. In some cases a physical showdown or fight will erupt despite all the best endeavours of an employer. The challenge for the employer is then how to deal with the "warring parties".

3G What does it mean and why should I care?
Around 45% of internet access globally is via the mobile phone and, by 2008 in Australia, Internet access via the mobile will exceed PC access. (Source: Marketing Magazine, July 2006) In 2005, 7.7 million handsets were sold in Australia with 85.8% being GSM/3G handsets. (Source: IbisWorld Industry Report: Mobile Telecommunications Carriers in Australia, October 2006) 3G refers to the third generation in wireless services. At the most fundamental level, these services aim to improve the transmission speeds of data, thus providing mobile access to Internet based services. This improvement will play a major factor in how consumers look for and access content and applications across the board via their mobile device. In most cases, this technology is already available and in use within the Australian market today. In the very near future, it will be common place to see people all around the city booking travel, conducting their banking, watching TV and of course searching the web for that new home to buy or rent all from their mobile phone.

The Meekest and Mightiest Make the Worst Leaders
Charisma, intelligence, drive and conscientiousness are some of the characteristics that make a leader. But what is it that can break a leader? Is it merely the lack of such qualities? No, says organisational behaviour expert Frank Flynn. His research has found that the greatest identifiable trait that can hold someone back from becoming a great leader is being too assertive or not assertive enough. (Read More...)

Some ways estate agents in the workplace can avoid action of a legal kind. It is prudent that the agent, his/her staff, consultants, contractors, or sub-contractors are aware of unacceptable conduct which the insurer is not liable to make any payment for loss. (Read More...)

Sales people are always looking to add more bang for the buck, but a Texas real estate agent might have taken that idea too far. Julie Upton, who covers the Houston area, decided to throw in a free Glock pistol for any law enforcement officers who bought a house from her for more than $190,000. So far the tactic has been a winner with a couple of the $693 guns already finding new homes. There have also been numerous serious inquiries about buying houses since she put an advertisement in the police department magazine Badge & Gun. Upton came up with the unique marketing spin with her husband, who is a police officer. "We thought it would be a good way to entice other police officers," Upton told Reuters. "And whether people want the gun or not, it has stirred up a lot of attention." So far Upton has not attracted any protests from anti-gun lobbyists, probably because only law enforcement officials can get the deal. Gun licenses are not needed in Texas for owning a rifle, shotgun or handgun, but a permit is needed to carry a concealed weapon. Herald Sun Sunday June 2006
